Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar bring up double figures for the US Ryder Cup team by defeating Nicolas Colsaerts and Paul Lawrie.

Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar have notched another point for the USA by defeating Nicolas Colsaerts and Paul Lawrie at Medinah.

The Americans got off to another good start thanks to European putting, when Colsaerts lipped out at the first.

The Belgian then missed from eight feet at the 4th, allowing the US team to increase their advantage.

However, a couple of pars were enough to claw a hole back at the sixth, before Colsaerts pitched out from the bunker at the seventh to restore parity to the score.

Neither European player could hole their putts on the 11th green, and Kuchar succeeded where they failed by putting the USA back in the lead.

Colsaerts had an eagle attempt at the 14th to win the hole as Johnson missed. His putt looked in all the way until it looped around the edge of the hole before popping out.

Kuchar could not find his way out of the trees after a stray drive at the 16th, while Jonson was also struggling. Lawrie had a two-putt to even that match and he held his nerve.

All four players found the green at the par-three 17th, with Kuchar, Lawrie and Colsaerts all to the left of the pin and Johnson to the right.

Colsaerts's putt drifted agonisingly wide of the hole, before Johnson drained a monster 25-footer for birdie.

That meant that Lawrie had to find the bottom of the cup to remain on level terms, but this time he was unable to deliver.

Lawrie and Johnson both found the green at the 18th, but so did Johnson. Lawrie took a shy at the hole, but rolled it well past, while the American nearly holed his putt.

Colsaerts also had a tricky putt for a half point, however his effort was always veering to the right and eventually sailed past the hole.
