Retief Goosen and Ryo Ishikawa both shot an opening-round 63 to earn a share of the lead after day one of the Quicken Loans National in Virginia.
The duo, who finished on eight-under-par, kicked off their tournament with a bogey-free day, as Goosen sank eight birdies, while Ishikawa managed seven and an eagle at the fourth.
Ernie Els, Justin Leonard and Kevin Chappell are among those in close pursuit, though, as the trio sit one shot adrift.
Tiger Woods, without a Major title in seven years and a PGA Tour victory since August 2013, admitted his frustrations lately.
However, the legendary American is just five off the pace after he finished on three-under, which included six birdies in nine holes during the middle part of his round.
Meanwhile, England's Andy Sullivan is also in contention as he shot 65 to sit two behind Goosen and Ishikawa.
