Hennie Otto has opened up a two-shot lead after day one of the Volvo China Open in Beijing.
The South African, who has struggled for form since winning the Italian Open in 2014, scored seven birdies and an eagle on his way to carding a round of 63.
It has left the 39-year-old on nine-under for the tournament at the Topwin Golf and Country Club ahead of the second round.
"I played really well today. On the first hole I saved a good par and I think that gave me momentum," he told European Tour Radio.
"After that I hit it really close and I broke 30 putts. I think I had 23 putts with a chip-in and that makes a big difference.
"I've been playing well but haven't been putting well. I haven't broken 30 putts for a long time and I've been working hard on it and today it showed."
Bernd Wiesberger is in second spot on seven-under, while four players are tied for third with a score of six-under.
