Brooks Koepka will take a one-stroke lead into the final two days of the FedEx St Jude Classic after a round of 67 in Memphis.
The 25-year-old made a bright start with a birdie at the opening hole, but gave that shot back as he bogeyed the fifth before picking up another stroke to reach the turn in 35.
His steady progress continued and further birdies at 15 and 16 saw the Floridian to nine-under-par after 36 holes.
Koepka looked set to share the overnight lead with Steven Alker, but a double bogey at the end of his round saw him finish two behind, while Austin Cook's late birdie saw him move to within a shot of the lead.
Among those who failed to make the cut in Memphis was Richard Sterne after the South African finished his round of 79 with a quadruple bogey to end day two on four-over-par having started the day only one shot behind Koepka.
