Matt Kuchar has recorded a round of 63 to take a share of the lead after the second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The world number 11 followed up an impressive showing on Thursday with seven birdies during a faultless round on Friday to earn him a place at the top of the leaderboard.
However, it was world number 125 Justin Thomas who produced the round of the day after he hit seven birdies and an eagle for a round of 61 to take him level with Kuchar.
Webb Simpson ensured that three American players top the standings with a solid showing of 66, with the trio leading nearest challengers Tim Clark and Troy Merritt by two shots.
Scotland's Russell Knox is a shot further adrift in sixth place, but first-round leader Paul Casey has fallen down to eighth position.
