World number one Dustin Johnson sits four shots clear at the top of the US Open leaderboard at the halfway stage.
Ian Poulter and Justin Rose faltered in the second round at Shinnecock Hills, with overnight joint-leader Scott Piercy and Charley Hoffman the nearest challengers to the world number one.
Tommy Fleetwood and defending champion Brooks Koepka hit 66s to sit in the pack behind the top three, and are also joined by Henrik Stenson and Rose.
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth all missed the cut, however, with the latter missing out by one shot on nine-over. Woods and McIlroy, meanwhile, both closed on 10 over.
England's Matthew Fitzpatrick registered a 70 in round two, and is currently tied for 11th at three-over.
