England gymnast Louis Smith has warned his Commonwealth Games challengers that there is "definitely more to come" as he prepares for the men's individual pommel horse final.

The 25-year-old, who took a two-year break from the sport following his silver medal success at the 2012 London Olympics, scored 15.700 in his qualifier to finish in second place.

"There is definitely more to come," The Scotsman quotes Smith as saying. "If I make the pommel horse final, I'm definitely going to step up the routine. It depends on where I am. If everyone else has fallen off, I might do an easier one.

"I think you can see the relief on my face. It's been a hard journey to get where I am, in terms of getting back fit again. I am still shedding the puppy fat from last summer, but it's so great to be here with the guys and be back in this atmosphere. It's been really good fun."

Fellow Team England competitor Max Whitlock finished first in qualification.
