Team GB's Brinn Bevan and Nile Wilson have said that they are pleased with the team's performance in the artistic gymnastics team all-around qualification.
Bevan scored 42.765, with Wilson adding 41.699. Frank Baines withdrew due to injury after adding a further 14.900 to the team's total.
Those scores gave Great Britain an early lead but the Russian trio of David Belyavskiy, Nikita Ignatyev and Nikolai Kuksenkov have since surpassed their scores.
"In the next competition [subdivision] we'll get to see a couple of great teams. For example, Russia and Germany. It will be hard to stay in first place. But it's good to be up against some of the big names in gymnastics," Bevan told reporters.
Wilson added: "Unfortunately I had a little mistake on rings. I took a risk doing a high difficulty dismount and it didn't pay off. But we did a great job as a team. We still have three pieces left tomorrow, so the job is not done yet.
The team all-around competition will conclude tomorrow.
