England women have claimed their first EuroHockey Championships title in 24 years following a penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands.
Caia van Maasakker gave the world champions a two-goal lead at the Olympic Park as they dominated the match for large spells.
However, Sophie Bray and Lily Owsley both scored from corner rebounds in the final eight minutes to send the tie to penalties.
England then triumphed in the shootout, with Maddie Hinch saving three penalties to help her country to a 3-1 win.
"I am renowned as a being a bit of a geek on penalties but as soon as it was the shootout it was my turn to step up," BBC Sport quotes Hinch as saying. "This team has had so many highs and lows but we deserve this."
England's last win at the championships came in 1991, when they beat Germany 2-1 in the final.
