Natalie Powell has tasted defeat against Marhinde Verkerk at the quarter-final stage of the women's -78kg at the European Games in Baku.
The reigning Commonwealth Games champion was left to fly the flag for Great Britain following the earlier exits of her teammates.
After overcoming Russian Federation's Anastasiya Dmitrieva in her first test at the Heydar Aliyev Arena, Powell was beaten by ippon to miss out on a place in the final four.
It took the 2009 world champion under two minutes to navigate her passage into the next round, where she will face Audrey Tcheumeo of France.
Powell, meanwhile, will now tackle Hungary's Abigel Joo in the repechage in an attempt to keep her - and Britain's - medal hopes alive.
