Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that most teams contain "four or five" players who smoke.
The North London outfit have been under particular scrutiny in recent times following smoking incidents involving Jack Wilshere and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
While manager Arsene Wenger has taken a strong stance against smoking within his team, Giroud has revealed that smoking is rather common in football.
"Everyone knows that there are a lot of players who smoke," Giroud told L'Equipe. "In every team there are four or five. It doesn't shock me. In rugby, they also smoke. And nobody is shocked."
Szczesny was fined £20,000 for lighting up in the dressing room last month.
