The wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has hit back after receiving abuse on Twitter amid rumours that her husband is on the verge of joining Arsenal.
Reports emerged on Friday night claiming that the Gunners have triggered a £20m release clause in Vardy's contract.
It is now believed that the North London outfit could wrap up the transfer within the next 24 hours.
In May, not long after Leicester were crowned Premier League champions, Vardy insisted that he was "happy" with the Foxes and had no intention of leaving.
However, widespread reports have suggested that the 29-year-old, who scored 24 league goals this season, could be an Arsenal player before he travels to France with the England squad on Monday for Euro 2016.
Vardy's partner Rebekah, who married the footballer last week, has received a barrage of abuse on Twitter, prompting her to state that she plays no part in her husband's career decisions.
In a series of tweets, Rebekah wrote: "Listen LCFC fans don't come at me with abuse! I have nothing whatsoever to do with calling the shots in my husband's career! Its unfair.
"Right I'm off for a nice family day with my husband....you lot can crack on! Enjoy your day everyone."
Vardy, who was voted Premier League Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year, signed a new long-term contract with Leicester in February.
