Former Arsenal full-back Nelson Vivas has been sacked as manager of Argentine side Quilmes after punching a disapproving supporter.
The ex-Argentine international, capped 39 times by his country, was fired by his native club for striking a fan who was shouting at him from the stands during the 1-1 draw with Atletico Rafaela on Friday.
Vivas, who played for Arsenal between 1998 and 2001, was apparently provoked by the fan exclaiming: "They (the referee and assistants) are robbing us and you're doing nothing about it."
It initially appeared that the 44-year-old was going to keep his job after he took training on Monday morning, but Quilmes president Anibal Fernandez has now decided that it was an unforgivable action.
Fernandez told reporters: "Professionals like Vivas can't get angry about these things, they need to be able to show level-headedness. What happened was crazy."
Vivas began his professional playing career at Quilmes, before later representing the Gunners, Inter Milan and Boca Juniors among others. You can watch the incident via the video below.
