An Aston Villa supporter who suffered a dangerous fall at Wembley following Saturday's FA Cup final against Arsenal has woken from a coma.
After watching Villa lose 4-0 to the Gunners, Ian Coyle, 44, fell off an elevated road along Wembley Way and was airlifted to hospital.
Mr Coyle's wife Ann-Marie took to Facebook to give an update on the condition of her husband, who is from Great Barr in Birmingham.
She wrote: "Would like to say me and his family are overwhelmed with love, support, messages and calls we have all received.
"As of today Ian is awake and has talked - slightly confused - and now awaiting his operation on his back as he needed to be more stable for them to even consider it.
"We have a awful long way to go. He will be kept in London for a while and don't know what the outcome will be as yet."
Mr Coyle is believed to have been in a coma for two days.
