British Olympic Association chief executive Simon Clegg has hailed Friday's European Games opening ceremony as an "amazing occasion" for Azerbaijan.
The curtain-raiser for Baku 2015 included a performance from Lady Gaga and organisers say that it was a sell-out at the Olympic Stadium.
However, Clegg, who is also the chief operating officer of Baku 2015, believes that the ceremony was for the whole of Azerbaijan.
He told reporters: "Yesterday's ceremony was an amazing occasion. Our intention was to make all Azeris proud.
"My driver this morning told me that he and his family were moved to tears."
Clegg was also involved in London's successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
