Bolton Wanderers allegedly have an unpaid bill for £6,000 owing to a local pasty company.
The club have been in financial dire straits for several years and consequently have been hit with a 12-point deduction for the new League One season following their relegation from the Championship last term.
Administrators are currently in charge of Wanderers and have identified Football Ventures as the preferred bidder in a takeover from Ken Anderson, who has been in control for the last few years.
According to The Bolton News, the club are in debt to the tune of almost £25m to 294 different companies, including £2.47m to HMRC, £1.75m to Bolton Council and nearly £520,000 in unpaid electricity bills.
The newspaper says that local firm Carrs Pasties - a family-run business who have been in operation for more than 80 years - are owed £6,000.
Due to their unsecured creditor status, however, Carrs Pasties, who boast that they "fill it hot, fill it with pride", will only be due 35% of their fee when the sale goes through.
The takeover is expected to be completed in the next few weeks ahead of the new season starting on August 3.
