Crystal Palace striker Patrick Bamford admits that he wants to present Match of the Day when he retires from football.

Patrick Bamford has admitted that he would like to replace Gary Lineker as the presenter of Match of the Day after he retires from football.

The Chelsea striker, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace, made his Premier League debut when he came off the bench in yesterday's defeat to Arsenal.

The 21-year-old told The Observer: "After football, ideally I want to take Gary Lineker's job, but we'll see about that. I'd love to do that, present Match of the Day.

"I always joke with Dad about it, saying that's what I'll do when I'm done. So whether I can do something that will help me towards that I don't know."

Lineker has hosted the show since 1999, five years after he retired.
