England assistant coach Gary Neville successfully negotiated a discount on French seafood in order to throw his team a pre-match barbecue at their Chantilly base on Wednesday.
The former Valencia manager and goalkeeping coach Dave Watson took a trip to Chantilly Maree fishmongers to secure the capture of 10 prawns as part of a treat for the 23-man squad ahead of their first game of Euro 2016 this weekend.
"We were shocked when the two men in England tracksuits came in," an employee at the store told The Mirror. "We didn't know if they were players or not. We are France supporters.
"They said they needed langoustine, we think for a barbecue. We only had gambas (prawns) so they decided to buy 10 of them. We hope they enjoy them.
"The smaller man (Neville) thought they would cost 20 euros, so he was surprised when we charged him 72 euros. We negotiated a special deal for 60 euros because they were English and are guests in Chantilly."
