England manager Roy Hodgson has claimed that football has been put into perspective following a visit to Israel's Yad Vashem.
Hodgson was joined by outgoing FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Israel's official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
"Football is football," Hodgson told Sky Sports News. "Teams win, teams lose, but here we're talking about the mass extermination of a group of people and the innocence of the people who have had their lives taken from them. Football will always be put into perspective by these types of things."
The trio spent four hours at the memorial - watching videos, reading statements from survivors and taking in the 4.2m names of those who died written in the hall of names.
