Sir Bobby Charlton has joined social networking site Twitter to mark the 50th anniversary of England's 1966 World Cup triumph.
The Manchester United legend, 78, was part of the side that outmanoeuvred West Germany at Wembley on July 30, 1966, having previously scored twice against Portugal to advance England through to the final.
Charlton officially joined Twitter this morning and soon after made his debut post:
Charlton has already amassed almost 40,000 followers but to date is only following five accounts himself, including the official accounts of Manchester United and England, as well as Gary Lineker.
