Romelu Lukaku reveals plans to move his family from Brussels as soon as possible following fears that the Belgian capital is a target for terrorists.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed plans to move his family away from Brussels amid fears of an imminent terrorist strike.

The Belgian capital has been almost locked down in recent days after the nation's Prime Minister confirmed that the threat level was at an all-time high.

Restaurants, cafes and schools will remain shut on Monday, while public transport will not be operating.

Lukaku's family live in Molenbeek, a municipality of Brussels with links to terror suspects who were reportedly involved in the Paris attacks which killed 130 people 10 days ago.

"I live in Brussels and I live where the police are doing a lot of things. I live in Molenbeek. I have had an apartment there for six years now and it is a nice neighbourhood," the Belgian ace is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "It is calm. But with the things happening there now it is a bit difficult. I never saw any trouble. But now we are going to move as soon as possible.

"From the national team 30-40 players come from Brussels and a few others from Molenbeek. It has been a shock because at the moment the safety is the highest level of security. All of my family are over here. My brother doesn't live in Brussels any more. Obviously we will try to move as soon as possible. You just want your family to be safe."

Lukaku joined the Toffees for £30m from Chelsea in 2014.
