The world of cryptocurrency is continuing to grow in popularity despite regulations and restrictions being implemented across the world. Cryptocurrency was originally just a concept for those who remained in the inner circle of the technology to enjoy, but with the Bitcoin boom of 2017, we have started to see a much broader range of individuals begin to be enthusiastic about the technology. One such group of people are celebrities and sporting stars, many of whom have endorsed cryptocurrency investment and trading and have taken part in the trading themselves. Here, we take a closer look at some of the top sporting stars who have endorsed cryptocurrency.

Gael Monfils
Gael Monfils has already made headlines at Wimbledon this year with what was thought to be the fastest ever serve, although it was said to be a faulty speed gun which robbed him of the record. However, it isn't just his current performance at Wimbledon and previous tennis tournaments that have pushed Monfils into the limelight, as it was also announced in May that global social trading platform eToro signed him as a global ambassador. With trading and tennis both requiring dedication, hard work, and the ability to handle antagonistic circumstances, as well as Monfils's very own passion for the platform and cryptocurrency trading as a whole, the partnership is set to be a long-term one for the pair showcasing just how prominent cryptocurrency investment and trading is becoming.

James Rodriguez
Colombian footballer James Rodriguez has recently announced that he will be launching his very own cryptocurrency called the JR10 Token. This makes Rodriguez the very first active football player in the world to break into blockchain technology and launch his very own digital asset. Rodriguez has stated that he believes cryptocurrency is likely to benefit a number of areas in football, including sponsors, media, clubs and all relevant stakeholders, while also being the next big technology to help grow the global football market. We've already seen one club conduct the first ever player transfer using Bitcoin, meaning the potential for cryptocurrency in the world of football is likely to grow even further.

Mike Tyson
While many major celebrities and sporting fans' endorsement results in a few social posts and not much else, Mike Tyson has pushed his endorsement even further. In 2015, the boxing champion partnered with a Bitcoin company to release his very own branded Bitcoin ATM on Las Vegas strip. In addition to this, Tyson was also set to release his own digital Bitcoin wallet, where users would be able to store any Bitcoin that was purchased at any digital currency ATM, available on both Android and IOS.

Other Major Sporting Names
Quite simply, there are far too many top sporting stars who have endorsed cryptocurrency investment and trading to list them all, but we've already seen the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Floyd Mayweather play their part in the endorsement of crypto trading and blockchain technology, alongside those listed above. With the likes of SIRIN LABS and Centra both being endorsed by the three, we are set to see a great number of ICOs, exchanges, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology companies see the limelight as a result of their celebrity sports star endorsements.
