Prince William expressed his gratitude towards the people who helped deliver the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow by making an appearance at Thursday night's wrap party.
A reception was held for around 1,500 guests in Glasgow's Merchant Square and the Duke of Cambridge was welcomed as a surprise guest of honour.
"These were undoubtedly the best ever Commonwealth Games in history and you guys made it that way," the Daily Mail quotes Prince William as saying. "You have helped to deliver a triumph.
"It meant an awful lot to the Queen that the Commonwealth Games, which are so dear to her, were in safe hands."
Prince William attended numerous events, including the boxing and swimming, alongside his wife Kate Middleton and brother Harry.
