India cricket captain MS Dhoni has revealed that he has a passion for the army.
The 33-year-old, who is part of the Indian team for today's fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, told magazine All Out Cricket that his profile has allowed him to learn more about the military.
"From when I was a young boy, I read books on weapons and tanks and combat," Dhoni told broadcaster Mark Nicholas. "I was so interested in the army.
"Later, my profile allowed me access to the real thing so I spent time with soldiers, learning about their lives and sacrifices. I asked if it was possible to become involved myself. The result of all this is that I became an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment."
Dhoni's India side are currently 1-1 with England in the Test series.
