Leicester City have confirmed that they have issued multi-year bans to a number of fans after tickets to the Foxes' final home game of the season appeared online for £15,000 each.

The East Midlands side are on the verge of securing a historic Premier League title, sitting seven points clear at the top of the table with five games of their season left to play.

Leicester will likely have been crowned champions before their final home game of the season on May 7, when they welcome Everton to the King Power.

Tickets to the fixture, which have a face value of between £24 and £48, sold out in 90 minutes when they were made available to members and have since been spotted on ticket resale websites for four and five-figure sums.

In a statement on its website, Leicester said: "In light of the unprecedented demand that currently exists for Leicester City tickets, supporters are reminded that all Leicester City tickets must be purchased directly from the club. The unauthorised advertising and selling of Premier League tickets is illegal.

"The club has a duty of care to its supporters and is working diligently to prevent ticket touting, while also encouraging all fans to report any such activity. As a result, a small number of Season Ticket Holders and Members have this week received multi-year bans, preventing them attending Leicester City games or purchasing tickets to any Leicester City fixture, as well as having their own Season Tickets and Memberships cancelled without compensation."

Leicester can go within two wins of securing the title if they defeat West Ham United at the King Power on Sunday.
