American hip-hop legend Dr Dre reveals his affection for Liverpool, a club he first discovered on a visit to the city in 1988.

Hip-hop superstar Dr Dre has revealed that he is a Liverpool fan and has followed the team for over 20 years.

Dre admitted that he is long-term admirer of John Barnes and fell in love with the Reds after visiting the city in 1988.

He told the club's official magazine: "Liverpool are the team I always look out for when I'm at home. Back in 1988 I was in London on a promotional tour with NWA, and one night we were watching TV and these cool cats in red came on the box. As an avid Liverpool supporter, keep up to date with the latest betting tips on the club.

"Barnes, he was bad. He reminded me of Magic Johnson. I'm from LA and dig the Lakers, especially when Magic was there, and Barnes was like him, in that he made the ball talk. The cat was cool.

"Michael Owen is your most famous player in the States. Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp are old school, so I've seen them play quite a few times."

The 47-year-old rap mogul also insisted that Brendan Rodgers's side can finish above Manchester United this season.
