Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has helped people in his home village of Bambali by spending £450,000 to build a new hospital.

The 29-year-old returned to Senegal earlier this month for two rounds of international fixtures against Zambia and Cape Verde, and during his stay Mane met up with the country's president Macky Sall.

From discussions with president Sall, Mane sought a contribution of medical personnel for the hospital, in which he provided more than £450,000 for its construction.

The Daily Mail reports that the hospital, which is the first medical facility in the area, will serve 34 villages around Bambali, and it is not the first time Mane has given back to his hometown.

The Liverpool winger has previously played a key role in the building of a secondary school and a supermarket, and it is reported that Mane is interested in funding more projects in the future including a post office and a petrol station.

Mane is about to enter his sixth season at Anfield and is only three goals shy of 100 in the red shirt after making 218 appearances for the club. body check tags ::
