Tottenham Hotspur apologise after a video was posted on their Twitter account mocking Liverpool after they suffer a blow in their Premier League title charge.

Tottenham Hotspur have apologised after a video was posted on one of their social media accounts making fun of Liverpool after they suffered a massive hit in their hunt for the Premier League title.

The Reds threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Despite moving back to the top of the league table, Liverpool will miss out on their first title in 24 years should Manchester City win their final two games.

After the result, a Vine video appeared on Tottenham's official Twitter page beginning with a clip of Steven Gerrard's inspirational team huddle against Manchester City, to the captain's slip against Chelsea and then Dwight Gayle's equalising goal for Palace.

The video, which concluded with a clip of Palace manager Tony Pulis laughing during a BBC interview, was accompanied with the message: "Brutal but very funny. The biggest capitulation since Newcastle in the 90s."

The tweet was eventually deleted and replaced with the post: "We are currently looking into a security issue where our official Vine account has been compromised. We apologise to anyone offended by a recent tweet, which was immediately deleted. This post was not tweeted by anyone affiliated to THFC."

Liverpool's final game is at Anfield against Newcastle United, while City will play Aston Villa on Wednesday and West Ham United at home on Sunday.
