Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has insisted that he wants his daughters to grow up understanding the value of money and admits that he 'hates' the idea of spoiling them.
The 36-year-old, who is on loan at the Etihad from MLS side New York City FC, is father to Luna, nine, and seven-year-old Isla from a previous relationship with Elen Rivas.
Despite having an estimated fortune of around £55m, the former England international has insisted that his children are not given what they want at the drop of a hat.
"I am very firm, to be honest," Lampard told The Times. "I hate the idea of spoiling them. I hate the idea of spoilt kids.
"It's quite lazy in a way for parents to just buy toys. My kids only expect what they're given. If you give them a baby Ferrari what do they want next year?"
Lampard, who is in a relationship with Irish TV presenter Christine Bleakley, will move to the United States in January to join up with the new MLS franchise.
