Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao played a role in helping a teenager in his homeland Colombia find a donor for a heart transplant.
The 28-year-old took to Facebook to urge his fans to get involved with the effort after hearing that John Andres Uyaban had been on the waiting list for two years.
Falcao wrote: "Help us get a new heart for John Andres, a 17-year-old kid with all the desire to keep fighting."
The teenager's mother Sara Fernandez revealed that 10 days after Falcao's message, her son was given the go-ahead for a transplant.
"I give thanks to God and Falcao," she told Efe news agency. "He's related to some cousins of mine who talked first to his father seeking his help in this effort."
The youngster is recovering at the Bucaramanga Cardiovascular Foundation in Colombia after undergoing surgery last week.
