Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he shed 4kg in weight during today's latest pre-season friendly in the Far East.
Ferdinand played the full 90 minutes in this afternoon's 2-2 draw with Japanese side Cerezo Osaka, with United salvaging a draw thanks to Wilfried Zaha's late strike.
The 34-year-old used Twitter to share that he found the humid conditions in Japan challenging, losing 4kg in weight due to his efforts in central defence.
He tweeted: "2-2 vs Cerezo Osaka..very good team, hard game for the lads. Tough humid conditions, I lost 4kgs during the game..90mins played so on we go!"
Next up for United is a return to Europe for a friendly against AIK Stockholm, before Ferdinand's testimonial match on August 9 at home to Sevilla.
