Romelu Lukaku 'angry and upset by voodoo claims made by Everton owner'

Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is reportedly seeking legal advice after Everton owner Farhad Moshiri claimed that a "voodoo message" told the striker to leave.

Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has reportedly been left fuming over claims made by Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri regarding the striker's decision to leave Goodison Park in the summer.

The Belgian opted against signing a new contract at the Merseyside outfit and instead moved to Old Trafford in a £75m deal.

Moshiri claimed during a shareholders' meeting on Tuesday that Lukaku received a "voodoo message" on a "pilgrimage to Africa", which convinced him to cut ties with Everton.

According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old has been left angry and upset by these claims, and is now seeking legal advice.

A representative for the striker told the news outlet: "Romelu's decision had nothing to do with voodoo. He distances himself from these beliefs and this statement and will now see what judicial steps can be taken in relation to them.

"Romelu is very catholic and voodoo is not part of his life or his beliefs. He simply had no faith in Everton and no confidence in Mr Moshiri's project. That is why he did not want to sign on any condition.

"He wanted to make the next step in his career and wanted the security to be able to leave."

Lukaku would have become the highest-paid player in Everton's history had he signed a new deal.
