Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton took some time out from his race preparations to visit a slum in Kolkata, India.

The 28-year-old, who finished sixth in the Indian Grand Prix on Sunday, spent some time in the capital of West Bengal visiting children working in Indian brick kilns.

"It has been an incredible learning experience," the Daily Star quotes Hamilton as saying. "The world I saw is vastly different from the one I live in. The thing I will carry with me is the energy these children have."

Hamilton is a global ambassador for Save The Children.
