Former New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns has been formally charged with one count of perjury.
The 44-year-old, who flew from Auckland to London last weekend, was charged at Charing Cross police station in the capital today.
The charge relates to the 2012 High Court libel case where Cairns was awarded £90,000 after suing former Indian Premier League boss Lalit Modi, who accused the former all-rounder of match-fixing on Twitter.
Cairns, who was expelled from the league, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on October 2.
