Belfast's Odyssey Arena will host the 2015 Sports Personality of the Year ceremony on December 20.
It will be the first time that Northern Ireland has held the awards since they went on the road in 2006.
The BBC's Director of Sport Barbara Slater has said that Northern Ireland is a worthy venue for the spectacle, which will celebrate achievements made during 2015 events such as the Rugby World Cup and the Ashes.
"The city, and Northern Ireland as whole, is home to so many sporting legends and steeped in sporting history, not to mention its worldwide reputation for a welcome second to none," Slater said in a statement.
"We are looking forward to a truly spectacular show."
Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton won last year's 2014 Sports Personality of the Year prize at a ceremony held in Glasgow.
