Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic admits that his arrest was 'definitely his fault' after he played loud music in a hotel room in Miami.

Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic has issued an apology after he was arrested following a disturbance in Miami.

The world number 25 was arrested by Miami Beach Police earlier this week after allegedly playing music too loudly in his hotel room, leading to an altercation with security staff and police.

After being charged with resisting arrest and trespassing, the 22-year-old told CBS: "It was definitely my fault. I was asleep on several occasions when they complained at first, but you know, it was just a noise complaint. I'm just happy I got out and no-one got hurt.

"Because I told [a security officer] that I wasn't playing the music too loud, and he was unhappy with the volume. So I asked him to come in and we negotiated the volume and he still wasn't happy when he came back the second time, and when he came back I was just disappointed to see police there.

"I said 'can I have a bit more time to collect my stuff?', and unfortunately they didn't give me enough time."

Tomic was recently dropped from Australia's Davis Cup squad as part of an ongoing dispute with Tennis Australia.
