Sepp Blatter could make a dramatic U-turn and seek to remain as FIFA president, according to reports in Switzerland.
The 79-year-old announced his intention to resign two weeks ago amid the corruption scandal that has rocked football's world governing body.
According to Swiss paper Schweiz am Sonntag, an anonymous source close to Blatter has claimed that support from African and Asian federations has forced a re-think from the outgoing president.
The paper also suggests that Walter de Gregorio's exit as FIFA's director of communications was forced through due to Blatter's intentions to stay.
A new president is expected to be chosen at an emergency meeting in Zurich in December.
