Olympic diver Tom Daley has insisted that he will continue to use Twitter.

Lord Sebastian Coe recently claimed that athletes tend to overuse the online social networking service and microblogging service.

"If he was talking about me, it doesn't really bother me," The Mirror quotes the 18-year-old as saying. "I was tweeting the whole year in training and in competitions.

"I wasn't prepared to change because you're meant to stick to your routines. If you change things last minute, that's when things go wrong. It would be a silly thing to do and that's why I carried on. It's my generation.

"It's how I communicated with friends and supporters and those who knew what was going on in the Village. I enjoy doing it."

Daley will launch his new television show Splash! on Saturday.
