Novak Djokovic apologises for 'scaring' a ball boy with an angry outburst during the Miami Masters final against Andy Murray.

Eight-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has apologised for appearing to scare a ball boy in an outburst during the Miami Masters final against Andy Murray on Sunday.

After losing the second set to the Scotsman, Djokovic grabbed a towel offered by the youngster and angrily yelled in the direction of his coach Boris Becker.

While resting between points, the chair umpire told Djokovic that he scared the ball boy and while his outburst was not directed at the youngster himself, it "didn't look good".

The world number one has since apologised in a statement, which reads: "I saw the replay, unfortunately the ball boy was in the middle of it and I really feel sorry and I regret that he was there. There was absolutely no intention whatsoever to hurt him or scare him in any kind of way, and I sincerely hope that he forgives me.

"I really apologise, and also as a parent I do care about children a lot right now. I look at it in a much different way, so I want to apologise to his parents as well for this situation and as a father I wouldn't wish something like this happens to my son."

Djokovic beat Murray 7-6[3] 4-6 6-0 to claim his fifth Miami Masters title.
