World number one Novak Djokovic believes that Andy Murray deserves to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
The British number one beat the Serb to achieve his first Grand Slam title of his career at the US Open in September, after winning gold in the London Olympics.
The 25-year-old became the first Briton to earn a Grand Slam singles title in 76 years, and Djokovic feels that Murray would be a worthy winner of the award.
"Andy had a fantastic year," Djokovic told BBC Sport. "To win his first Grand Slam title, in New York, and to win the Olympic Games which only come around every four years - it could barely be more satisfying for him.
"Winning in London in front of his home crowd after reaching the final of Wimbledon a few weeks earlier - he has been playing the tennis of his life.
"Vote for Andy Murray for BBC Sports Personality, I only wish I could vote myself."
The award takes place this Sunday.
