FIFA has announced plans to sue some of its most senior former officials for damages of "tens of millions of dollars".
The revelation has been made following the filing of legal papers in New York, in which it is claimed that 41 ex-officials and marketing executives took bribes and stole money from the governing body.
Those accused include high-profile names such as Jack Warner, Jeffrey Webb and Chuck Blazer.
The papers also suggest that South Africa paid around £7m in bribes to win the right to host the 2010 World Cup.
It is believed that FIFA is looking to reclaim around £135m in total.
