England legend Paul Gascoigne has emerged as a distant relative to Alan Carr, the comedian has revealed.
The BAFTA-winning comedian has claimed that the ex-Newcastle United star is already a friend to his father Graham, who works as a scout at St James' Park.
"He knows my dad because he's the chief scout for Newcastle FC and Gazza's a friend of the family and actually he is related to me if you want a shock," The Sun quotes Carr as saying.
"It's through my dad's side, the same village. He's my great great something. He's like my second cousin twice removed."
Gascoigne appeared as a guest on Carr's Channel 4 show Alan Carr: Chatty Man to discuss his recent stint in rehab for alcohol addiction.
