A number of insults towards the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy referenced on the Wikipedia website reportedly came from government computers.
Revisions have been made on the online encyclopedia since the 20th anniversary of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans back in 1989.
According to the Liverpool Echo, entries including, 'you'll never walk again,' and 'blame Liverpool fans', are said to have been tracked back to IP addresses used on computers based in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Her Majesty's Treasury and the Office of the Solicitor General.
The news comes a matter of weeks after fresh inquests into the 96 deaths began after the original 'accidental' verdict was quashed following a report claiming that the disaster could have been prevented.
Sheila Coleman of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign told the newspaper: "We're still in the inquests and we've sat listening to the most heart-breaking accounts of that day, and then you hear about things like this. It's absolutely appalling, disgraceful."
The Cabinet Office have told the newspaper that they plan to look into the matter.
