Journalist and broadcaster Howard Kurtz has been dropped by the Daily Beast following an article on gay NBA star Jason Collins.
Collins came out in an interview with Sports Illustrated on Monday to become the first active basketball player to reveal his homosexuality.
Kurtz wrote a widely-criticised piece on the 34-year-old two days later claiming that Collins failed to mention in the interview that he used to be engaged.
However, the Washington Wizards centre clearly stated in the article that he was due to be married.
"The Daily Beast and Howard Kurtz have parted company," editor-in-chief Tina Brown said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Collins recently revealed that he has received death threats since making his announcement.
