Football journalist Brian Woolnough lost his battle with bowel cancer this morning.
Having previously worked The Sun and The Mirror, the 63-year-old took up the role as chief sports writer with the Daily Star in 2001.
He was also the presenter of Sunday Supplement, having taken over from Jimmy Hill back in 2007.
He leaves a wife, Linda, and three children.
