Former England international Gary Lineker has criticised BBC News for telling viewers the daily football results minutes before Match of the Day.
The 52-year-old, who hosts the highlights and analysis show every Saturday night, sparked a debate on Twitter when he questioned why the scores would be announced ahead of the show.
Lineker tweeted: "Never will understand why BBC News feels the need to give football results. Look away now . . . ONE NIL.
"For those who think everyone knows the scores, you'd be surprised how many don't."
Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Lineker has agreed a new contract with the network to continue as Match of the Day host.
