British number one tennis player Andy Murray has suggested that he is backing Scottish independence in today's referendum.

Previously, the 2013 Wimbledon champion, who grew up in Dunblane, Stirling, refused to be drawn on whether Scotland should break away from the Union.

However, the 27-year-old appears to have made up his mind after he tweeted: "Huge day for Scotland today! no campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. excited to see the outcome. lets do this!"

Murray, who sparked controversy back in 2006 by saying that he would support "anyone but England" in the World Cup, will not have a vote due to his Surrey residency.
