England legend Paul Gascoigne has insisted that it was important for him to "get back to reality" following his stint in rehab.
The 45-year-old spent five weeks at a facility near Phoenix, Arizona in the US after he reverted back to an alcohol addiction.
Following his time in the US, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been speaking of his struggle at the clinic, which resulted in an emergency trip to hospital.
"I'm quite excited what the future holds, I had a bad time," Gascoigne told Daybreak. "I went to the treatment centre, and they tried to detox us, and they couldn't, so they rushed us to hospital, and that's where it got quite serious.
"People are saying it's too early for me to be talking, but it's best for me to get back to reality straight away."
Gascoigne's treatment is thought to have been largely funded by contributors including the Football Association.
