Laura Robson has laughed off being called "Laura Robinson" by Wayne Rooney and insisted that she is just happy that the Manchester United striker was watching her match.
The 18-year-old tennis player was on the way to beating Li Na in the US Open third round when Rooney tweeted: "Laura Robinson is playing brilliant good luck Laura".
Rooney was inundated by tweets acknowledging the error, which he put down to predictive text, but Robson joked that he could not pass the blame onto his phone.
Robson told ESPN: "Can you blame that on predictive text? I'm not so sure. But it's great to be watched, even though he got my name wrong.
"Maybe a few people a bit younger than me have seen his tweets and said 'I want to play a bit of tennis now.' It's great."
Robson will play Samantha Stosur in the fourth round.
