Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford has revealed that he walked two miles carrying an injured deer after he spotted it while walking his dogs.
The 28-year-old, who won gold for Britain in the long jump in 2012, decided to name the deer Doris after he found the animal with a broken leg near to his home in Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes.
Rutherford tweeted that he called the RSPCA once he returned to his house, but has now revealed that the deer had to be put to sleep.
He wrote: "Really sad day today. Doris the injured deer I brought home yesterday had to be put to sleep due to her injuries."
